Positive news for all students enrolled under the Maharashtra Board, preparing to give their board exams of Class 10 or 12. The Maharashtra government has postponed the date of the SSC and HSC board exams which were scheduled to be held in the month of April. This shift was made by the government, taking into consideration the rampant rise in COVID-19 cases in the state. The board exams of Class 12 and Class 10 were scheduled to begin on April 23 and April 30 respectively. The dates for the Class 10 exams have been revised and now will be held in the month of June, while the class 12 exams are now scheduled in May. After consultations with various stakeholders-students, teachers, parents, elected representatives from across parties, academicians & tech giants, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray decided in a meeting with Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad to take this necessary step. The state school education minister said that the current circumstances are not conducive for holding exams and due to the COVID-19 situation in Maharashtra the state board exams for class 10th & 12th have been postponed. The health situation in the state is being closely monitored and the fresh dates will be announced accordingly. The Maharashtra Government has also written to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), and the other boards to reschedule board exams because of the surge in the active COVID-19 cases. School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad through her social media handle has written that “Your health is our priority” She mentioned that due to the nature and the spread of COVID-19, the MVA government feels that conducting board exams at this point isn't conducive at all hence have postponed exams, and have written to CBSE, CISCE, Cambridge Int, IB organization, suggesting them to reschedule theirs. The minister added that they are hopeful that the concerned boards will appreciate the viewpoint put forward. A uniform decision taken by all boards will hugely benefit the health, safety, and future of the students. CBSE has scheduled their 2021 board exams from May 4. Class 10 CBSE board exams will be continuing till June 7 and Class 12 CBSE exams will be going on till June 10. CISCE will be scheduling the Class 12 exams from April 8 to June 18 and the Class 10 exams are to commence from May 4 to June 7.
