Strong Comeback of Rafael Nadal (“King of Clay”) Rafael Nadal Parera is a Spanish Tennis player. Rafael Nadal is also known as king of clay due to his remarkable achievements in clay courts and he is the first and only player to complete the “Clay Slam”. Now Rafael has added one more feather to his crown by his strong and splendid comeback in Australia open and won record breaking 21st major Grand Slam Title. On 30th January Rafael created history by winning 21st Grand Slam title at the Rod Laver Arena by defeating Daniil Medvedev in the finals of Australia open. Final match of the series lasted for 5 and half hours and Nadal made a strong comeback after two sets down to defeat Medvedev with score 2-6, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 7-5.

He is the first Australian Open champion to comeback and win after dropping the first two sets of the final since Roy Emerson in 1965. Through this victory he breaks the tie record with Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer who has won 20 Grand Slam Single Title and becomes the first person to win 21 Grand Slam Single Titles. He also became a fourth man in the History to win all four major titles of sports Twice. After the Match Rafael Nadal stated “for me, it’s just amazing. Being honest, one month and half ago, I didn’t know if I’d be able to play on the tour again, without a doubt its probably been one of the most emotional month in my tennis career and The huge support I’ve received for the last three weeks will stay in my heart for the rest of my life”. He also said that if we put everything together, the scenario, the momentum, what it means, yeah, without a doubt probably this has been the biggest comeback of my tennis career.

As stated by Rafael this win is indeed a biggest comeback for his career because he could not participate in US open last summer because of chronic condition on his left foot, he missed Wimbledon match due to fatigue and as stated in the interview he was also on the brink of quitting in late 2021 but he turned up at Melbourne Park and after two sets of defeat did a roaring comeback and incredibly won the final match of Australia open. He had a roaring comeback not only in match but also in his career as he won this remarkable title after 13 years and became one of the few eminent players to win the Grand Slam Title twice.

Rafael Nadal’s never give up attitude in the match and in his life is a rarest personality which every sportsman should inculcate in their career. The foot injury Nadal has is a rare congenital problem that causes deformation of the scaphoid bone and he was managing this condition since his childhood and it again showed up in 2021 but it did not compel Nadal to quit or to retire at this Age instead, he put all his hard work and believed he can do it and after tuff practice for six months he participated and won the Australia open. After the match he said he was considering to retire on his professional tennis due to foot injury but after the match he said “one and half months ago I’d probably have said there’s a chance this will be my last Australian open, but now I have plenty of energy to keep going. I really can’t explain the feelings that I have right now, but I’m going to keep trying my best to come again next year”.

So far Rafael Nadal has won French open in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, he has won US open in 2019, 2017, 2013, 2010, Wimbledon open in 2010, 2008, and Australia open in 2009, 2022. This journey of Rafael Nadal is a very inspiring journey to coming generation of tennis players and his comeback win in Australia open after 13 years since 2009 impress every sport fan to not to quit and to try hard to achieve new heights.
