The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is all set to operate one more six-coach train from 4th October, 2018. The first train began in July after getting clearance from the Railway Board. The new train will run on the Purple Line, i.e., Mysuru Road to Baiyappanahalli, as the ridership on that route is more than in the Green Line, i.e., Nagasandra to Yelachenahalli.
The six-coach trains will be operated during the peak hour on the Purple Line. The trains would also be run on other times, as loop trains, to clear the rush at other stations. The first coach is to be reserved for women. The BMRCL has received one more set of train and shall be assembled soon.
The ridership has increased gradually ever since commercial operations began on the entire Phase I. On August 20th, the ridership crossed 4.28 lakh, and will further increase as the new six-coach train will hit the tracks.
The BMRCL has announced that by June 2019, all the existing three-coach trains will be integrated into six-coach ones. This comes as good news for the Namma Metro passengers.
