History was created this weekend when London Fashion Week held its first digital-only, gender-neutral showcase. But although catwalk displays, backstage dramas, and sore legs were noticeably absent, they were not short of unforgettable moments. From the opening speech to the virtual after-party, here's a recap of the highlights.

With Catwalk showing off the agenda, the creators of the capital sought to bring their work to life through ever more inventive means. Priya Ahluwalia has created an interactive 3D exhibition in the form of a virtual reality art gallery. Drawing from her Indian-Nigerian heritage and London roots, the young designer introduced works from her latest novel, Jalebi, with snapshots of what it means to be a mixed heritage individual living in modern Britain "hung" in a multimedia exhibition that visitors were invited to explore through their screens.

Many of them offered a behind-the-scenes look at their craft, including designer Robyn Lynch, through a home-made film documenting the making of her collection using deadstock material donated by the bicycle brand Rapha, and the design duo Marques'Almeida, whose documentary depicts the creation of the first reM'Ade collection made entirely of scrap fabric left over from previous seasons. It was an opportunity for others to flex the creative muscle beyond clothing. Experimental genderless fashion label Pronounce has chosen their slot to tell a story in the form of an illustrated 350-page flipbook called Slow Down, designed as a "Visual Response to 2020." Given London Fashion Week's reputation as an incubator of creative talent on the agenda, it is perhaps surprising that fashion schools in the capital have served as one of the best and brightest highlights of the weekend. Central Saint Martin's MA graduates orchestrated a takeover of yesterday morning 's schedule with a film reel providing an abstract view of artistic processes in isolation, including one student designing a pair of masking tape pants and another spinning on a loom in their bedroom.
