A condition that is an auto-immune disease caused by an irregular immune response. Autoimmune diseases exist at least 80 types. Nearly every part of the body will participate. Low-grade fever and tiredness are typical symptoms. Symptoms often happen and go. The origin is uncertain in general. Many autoimmune disorders, such as lupus, are common in families, and infections or other environmental factors can cause such cases. 

Often known to be autoimmune, some diseases include celiac disease, type 1, diabetes, graves, inflammatory bowel disease, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, and systemic lupus erythematous disease. It can be difficult to determine the diagnosis.

The type and severity of the condition depend on the treatment. Often, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are used. IV Immunoglobulin may also be used from time to time. Although treatment usually improves symptoms, it usually does not cure the disease.

The appearance of these symptoms and signs can change and is known as a flare-up when they reappear. These signs and symptoms can help in diagnosing autoimmune diseases by supporting the biological marker results. Many areas are often affected by autoimmune diseases. These include blood vessels, connective tissue underlying, joints and muscle, red blood cells, skin, and endocrine glands, as thyroid glands or pancreas.

The therapy depends on the condition's type and severity. The majority of autoimmune conditions are lifelong and no definitive solution is available, but medication will relieve and regulate the symptoms. Overall, the purpose of the various methods of treatment is to alleviate the symptoms of relief presented and to manipulate the autoimmune response of the body, while still maintaining a patient's ability to fight diseases.

New developments in medicine are currently being researched, developed, and utilized for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, especially when traditional treatment options fail. These methods seek to either prevent or alter the natural pathways which suppress these cells from activating pathogenic cells in the body. These progressions aim to have options for treating patients with lesser toxicity and specific goals.

Autoimmune diseases, as well as, inflammatory diseases are caused by aberrant reactions of human adaptive or innate immune systems. In autoimmunity, the immune response of the individual is triggered against the proteins proper to the body. Neutrophils and other leukocytes are constitutively activated by cytokines and chemokines in chronic inflammatory disorders, resulting in tissue injury.
