During an episode of Karan Johar’s talk show “Koffee with Karan” aired in December, with cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul as guests, comments were made towards women. It immediately attracted attention and led to the duo being suspended by the Indian cricket board (BCCI) for the Australia ODI series and one New Zealand ODI and a case being registered against the three of them in Jodhpur. Their bans have been lifted on 24th January with Pandya returning to the fold to feature in New Zealand and KL Rahul for India against England Lions. Hardik Pandya issued an apology on social media after the controversy and then the two cricketers offered an official statement to the cricket board. Opening up about the controversy, Karan Johar said, “I have to say that I feel very responsible because it was my show, it was my platform. I invited them as guests and so the ramifications and repercussion of the show are my responsibility. I have had so many so many sleepless nights, wondering about how I can undo this damage, who is gonna listen to me. It’s now gone into a zone which is beyond my control.”
