Covid-19 pandemic is not even close to being over WHO.
The head of the World Health Organization has warned that the coronavirus pandemic is not even close to being over.
It has now been six months since the first case of mysterious pneumonia-like illness was reported in Wuhan, China.
World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told "we all want this to be over, we all want to get on with our lives but the hard reality is that this is not even close to being over all the many countries have made progress globally the pandemic is speeding up," he said.
He said, "the worst is yet to come and with this kind of environment and conditions we fear the worse ."
"Some countries are now experiencing a resurgence of cases as they start to reopen their economies and societies most people remain susceptible this virus still has a lot of room to move," he said.
The WHO chief also pointed out the concerning signs of stigma misinformation and politicization of the pandemic.
"Please call off this COVID politics," he said.
adding that "the virus has two dangerous combination one is 'it is fast' 'it is contagious' and the second is "it is killer, it can exploit divisions."
"We can fight the virus better when we know everything about the virus including how it started," he said.
He also confirms that the WHO is sending a team to China next week to investigate the origins of the virus.
