Taking swipe over the Bhartiya Janta Party over the reports that CBI might question him in the illegal mining case, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav said that he might have to tell the probe agency about his alliance with Mayawati. While talking to a reporter in Lucknow, he said that he was ready to face the CBI but people are also ready to answer the BJP.

"Now we have to tell the CBI as to how many seats we have distributed to the gathbandhan (alliance). I am happy that at least BJP has shown its colors. Earlier, the Congress gave us the chance to meet the CBI, this time it is BJP which has given us this opportunity.” said Yadav. He said that SP wants to win maximum number of seats in Lok Sabha. All those who want to stop him, CBI is with them. The CBI will question him and he is ready to answer, he claimed.

An FIR was filed in the matter and agency has probed 14 places in relation with the 11 persons to probe against the alleged illegal mining of minor minerals in Hamirpur district during 2012-2016.

When asked about his alliance with Mayawati’s BSP, he said that the announcement is likely to be made within a week. However, he remained silent on the possibility of accommodating the Congress in the alliance. He said that this decision will be taken by him and Mayawati together.  Rejecting the allegation of vendetta, UP Minister Siddharth Nath Singh said, “If you loot public money, then law will take its own course.”
