Prime Minister criticized the Congress accusing it of running its own durbar of Michel mama instead of a government. He said that it is playing with the national security and working at the behest of middlemen in the defence sector rather than running a government for people under the UPA rule. He referred to the middlemen in the AugustaWestland chopper scam, who was brought to India from Dubai recently.

PM Modi was addressing a Bhartiya Janta Party rally in Odisha after unveiling a slew of projects of worth over Rs.4,500 crores including highways, railways, culture and passport services head of the general elections. This was Modi’s second visit to Odisha, in less than a fortnight, where assembly elections are slated to be held along with the Lok Sabha elections this year.  Modi in a scathing attack on the Congress party, said that there was a conspiracy during the UPA rule between 2004 and 2014 to weaken the nation’s defence forces and revelation of this fact is “paining” the Congress leaders.

"Therefore, they want to remove the chowkidar (watchman) from their path at any cost. Be it the society or factories, thieves always conspire to remove the chowkidar to make their task easy. As long as the chowkidar remains, they are unable to operate," PM Modi said poking at Rahul Gandhi for his watchman projection at him. He also said that coming of secrecy of Congress to fore is also paining its leaders. A letter of Michel had revealed that he had close ties with the top Congress leaders.  He also alleged that middleman had every information regarding the movement of files in the Congress’ offices and he used to pass on this information abroad. He also said that he would make sure that none of the ones who were involved in the scam would walk out scot-free.
