It was all due to the Modi Tsunami that forced the once biggest rivals in Uttar Pradesh to come into a coalition in the state for the recently conducted Lok Sabha election. Yes, we are talking about the SP and the BSP. The coming together of SP-BSP still didn’t have any positive outcomes as the alliance suffered a crushing defeat in the state. Now the SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav has given signs of the end of the alliance by announcing that SP will go solo in the bypolls and forming the government on their own in the state in 2022. Akhilesh in Ghazipur said that “agar aaj se sabke raste alag hai to uska bhi swagat, aur badhai sabko”. Mayawati, on the other hand, has left a sliver of hope for the alliance as she said that she shared a mutual relation with Akhilesh and Dimple. But contradicting to this Mayawati on Monday told her cadres not only that they will go in the polls alone in the state but to also prepare for all the 403 seats in the state for the 2022 UP polls. She said that although she and the SP chief shared a good rapport, she can’t ignore the ground realities. She in her own style said that it was not a permanent departure and the alliance may continue if the SP chief is able to push his cadre into mission mode. Whatever be the future of the SP-BSP alliance, it will be interesting to watch the effect of this on the politics of Uttar Pradesh.
