The Congress-JDS coalition government in Karnataka is on the edge as 11 MLAs have submitted their resignations as legislators on July 6, and the party is trying to get it together. The speculation is common that the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is preparing a fresh bid to form their government in the state surrounded by the political turmoil. It has been rumoured that if the current government collapses, the senior BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa has the possibility of becoming the new Chief Minister of Karnataka.

On July 6, BS Yeddyurappa has said that BJP has nothing to do with the ongoing political situation in the state while Mallikarjun Kharge has accused the BJP, alleging that it has been trying to cause a crack between the coalition of Congress- JDU. Mallikarjun Kharge has also stated that the party leadership will have a talk with those MLAs, who have resigned and sort out their issues, while the MLAs has said that they will not revert back their decisions as they seek some changes to be done in the party leadership in the State.

The recent update regarding this issue reflects that at 06:00 pm, a circular has been issued by the Congress party to all the MLAs to attend the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting called by its leader Siddaramaiah dated on July 9. Karnataka Congress in charge KC Venugopal and Karnataka Congress chief Dinesh Gundu Rao will also be present in the meet.
