Hangouts was launched as a replacement for Gchat in 2013.  According to the report published in SAN FRANCISCO: Google has decided to shut down its popular application hangouts service for consumers by 2020, 9to5google has reported, citing sources aware of the of the products roadmap. In the recent year the company has stopped updating the application and taken away SMS messaging because of that it started losing its features thus hangouts was launched in replacement of Gchat in 2013 by the tech Titan.

Prehaps on the web in Gmail it still serves as a prominent chat option also the application can be downloaded on the Google play store. Some of the key features that Google has to offer thorough it application Hangouts include  the messaging service, Video chat, SMS and the Voice over internet protocol (VOIP) features
